The World Travel & Tourism Council and IC Bellagio have partnered to launch a new consumer campaign focusing on Community Conscious Travel, raising awareness on how responsible tourism can positively impact the communities travelers visit each year.
The campaign will launch in full ahead of the busy 2024 summer travel season, with video-based storytelling across its social media platforms.
Community Conscious Travel highlights Italy as its first case study, and showcases tourism’s positive impact in preserving cultural heritage, while also providing recommendations on how travelers can visit the country in a more responsible way. Tourism to Italy contributes over 215 billion Euro and sustains nearly three million jobs, and employs more women and young people than many other industries.
The campaign focuses on how responsible tourism can be good for both the travelers who visit, and for the residents who live there, all by making small, thoughtful changes, such as traveling off-season.
“Across the spectrum of Travel & Tourism, the significance of people cannot be overstated,” said Andrea Grisdale, IC Bellagio CEO & Founder. “They are the lifeblood of this vibrant industry, intrinsic to the experience that travel provides and, ultimately, the economic growth it creates…We are hopeful the local stories will encourage global dialogue, motivating others to share solutions that can be put into action as we pair resident quality of life with the opportunities tourism presents.”
